Meet Crazy Momma

Crazy Momma and Gunner, still in the NICU

Crazy Momma is me!  Why would you call me crazy?  Because I am not a runner now and haven't been since I ran long distance in high school.  During the summer of 2010, I was already working out regularly and decided for kicks to do the couch to 5K program.  Much to my surprise, it worked.

So that makes sense and doesn't sound crazy.  What does is that I haven't ran since then and now I want to do a half marathon!  I have never ran more than five miles at a time in my life...now I am going to try to run 13.1...holy heck...what am I thinking?  Crazy, huh?

Why would I do this?  Because I am so passionate about the Mission of the March of Dimes, that I have decided to work this into a crazy momma on a mission fundraiser!  "So, on a take off the old bike-a-thons we used to do as a kid where people would sponsor you so much for every mile you could ride in a given time, MARCH FOR BABIES, RUN FOR DIMES is similar in that you can sponsor me for every mile I run between Jan 1 and April 15th"

I am so passionate about this cause because my son was born at 33 weeks, he spent 39 long days in the NICU instead of in my arms.  I was on bedrest for over five weeks at a hospital because my water broke a little over halfway through my pregnancy and it was the only thing they could do to make sure he was healthy on the inside.

During this ordeal, the only thing that kept me going was the idea that I would have a healthy son AND we would prove it when we did the 2010 March for Babies.  I started my team the day the walks opened and already had 3 team members!  We ended up with over 40 team members and raised over $3000!  This year my goal is $5100...or $1000 for each week I was in the hospital!
